Reflections on a sad day…

In this sad day for France (and for the whole world) I remember that life is fragile and it is those who stay behind that suffer the lessons it teaches.

For me the biggest lesson of all continues to be that we have to remember what is truly important in life and value it above all.

Stuff – cars, houses, clothes, jewellery, toys, gadgets and other material things are ephemeral and bring very short lived happiness.

It’s human relations that stay, that bring us joy and strength (and yes also sadness and frustration), and that last forever.

We are all imperfect. And yet our friends and family love us just like that, as we are. They are the ones that would cry if it was us dying suddenly without warning. The material stuff would not notice that they’d been passed to a new owner.

In this day of sadness, stop a minute to think of the upset and issues you have with your husband, wife, Father, Mother, your children or your friend. If that person disappeared tomorrow, what would you say today?

To all my family and friends, know that I love you, unconditionally, today and forever more.
